6th Grade Skypes with Hearst Castle

Posted Date: 02/09/2018

On Tuesday the 6th grade took a virtual field trip to the Hearst Castle in California. They Skyped with a park ranger, who took them on a tour of this large mansion, and the grounds surrounding it. The house was built by William Randolph Hearst, and is filled with ancient art and artifacts. The students were able to see statues created over 2,000 years ago, and study artifacts from many different civilizations. The most amazing part of the tour was an indoor swimming pool, which was completely covered in blue and gold mosaic tiles. The room was decorated to show scenes from ancient Rome. It was a great experience, and would only be topped by visiting the Hearst Castle in person.
